Lettercape
On-brand email campaigns. Paste a website, get a brand kit, draft a campaign with AI, run six pre-send checks, then hand the draft to Klaviyo, Mailchimp and other email platforms.

556 tests
- First commit to public beta in 18 days (314 commits)
- Six automated pre-send checks on every campaign
- Exports to Klaviyo and Mailchimp; never sends to subscribers itself
What it is
Let small brands send emails that look and sound like them, with AI suggestions they can accept or discard and checks that catch problems before a send.
Why it exists
Small brands write email in tools built for designers, then paste in AI copy that doesn't sound like them. Lettercape starts from the brand's own website and checks every draft before it reaches an email platform.
How it works
A brand kit (colours, fonts, voice, approved facts) is built once from the brand's site. Campaigns are typed blocks saved with compare-and-swap, and every save can be restored from an immutable checkpoint. AI proposals come back as structured output that the user accepts or discards. Background work runs on Redis and BullMQ workers, with PostgreSQL through Drizzle.
Decisions worth explaining
Compare-and-swap saves with immutable checkpoints
Editors lose trust the first time work disappears. Every save carries the version it was based on; a stale save is rejected and offered for recovery instead of silently winning.
AI stays off until it is explicitly budgeted
AI only runs when a model, a server-side key and a finite generation allowance are configured, and the default allowance is zero. Nothing pretends to succeed: if AI isn't available, the interface says so.
Hand off drafts, never send
Lettercape exports frozen, checked revisions and leaves audiences, deliverability and sending to the email platform. The create call is never retried blindly, so a flaky network can't create duplicate campaigns.
Results
- Six automated checks: link safety, alt text, footer and unsubscribe, subject length, on-brand wording and Gmail clipping size.
- 41 templates, 22 languages and Shopify product import; Klaviyo and Mailchimp export paths tested end-to-end in Chromium.
- 556 automated tests plus API, usability and release-gate smoke checks.
